CERTIFICATION ACTIVITIES OF ENGINEERING COMPANY

There are two types of engineering company that can be provided with certification by BKI namely: Engineering service provider and ship material/component companies.

Engineering service providers in shipping sector conducting technical work on vessel classified by BKI shall obtain certification/feasibility test for their work to secure that the works conducted meet the provisions prevailing in BKI.

Types of engineering service provided with certification are :

  • Plate Thickness Measurement
  • Destructive / Non Destructive Testing
  • Under Water Survey
Procedure of Engineering Service Provider Certification :
  • Submitting application for certification to the nearest BKI’s branch office by completing the following documents :
    • Company Profile
    • Company's Organization Structure
    • Work Procedure
    • List of Engineers
    • List of Work experience
  • Checking/clarification of document and work procedure at applicant’s field/office.
  • Issue of Company Approval Certificate valid for 3 years.
Engineering service providers already provided with certificate are available here.

Procedure above is also effective to companies manufacturing ship material/component. They can submit application for company’s certification thereby re-certification is unnecessarily made to their product. (lihat Material / Component Approval)
